Blurb:  This tight end is at the top of his game.

He’s good with his hands, even better with his sexy mouth, and the best at making me forget my own name. His—ahem—stats are perfect.

But I can’t fall for him.

He might be everything I want, all rolled into a glorious package of gridiron god, but there’s one teeny-tiny problem. The vile, loathsome team I’ve spent my entire life hating—my beloved school’s arch-rival?

This guy is their star player.

This book brought back some memories between my old high school alma mater and the neighboring rival town… good times. Now, this was high school and not on the collegiate level, but a pretty intense rivalry all the same. They murdered us in football, we murdered them in baseball, softball and our cheerleaders always took the state title. Lots of shit talk, lots of heckling, even some vandalism going on… I even dated a guy from the rival town during my sophomore year of high school and got tons of shit for it.. So that was fun.

But, I digress..

description

These rivalries are real and that’s the main obstacle that Jay and Kayla face in this book. These two meet at a friend’s wedding and hit it off immediately, until Kayla walks into a bar to find Jay and sees the hideous mascot of Biff the Wolverine staring at her in the face and realizes that she’s in enemy territory. She’s in absolute shock and almost has a panic attack. She’s an Ohio State Buckeye cheerleader and Jay is the star tight end football player for the Wolverines from the University of Michigan.. It can NEVER work. These two schools absolutely hate each other.

But their chemistry doesn’t care who’s side of the bleachers they’re sitting on, although Kayla’s head does. Her heart, for that matter, is on the fence. Jay just doesn’t give a damn about the stupid rivalry. He knows what he wants, and that’s Kayla.

Put the rivalry aside, and I loved these two together! I loved how Jay never backed away from the challenge of trying to worm his way into Kayla’s heart and try to make her forget about the rivalry. They were the perfect mix of heat and sweet and I thoroughly enjoyed their banter. This is my first book by Nikki Sloane and it definitely won’t be my last. Her writing had me immediately connecting with the characters and just wanting more of them.
